Mission & acquisition strategy

This Program Element (PE) provides funding for the essential corporate expenses that form the foundational support structure for the Office of Naval Research (ONR). These costs, the vast majority of which are fixed, include salaries for the world-class scientists and engineers who lead our S&T programs, as well as critical operational expenses such as Information Technology (IT), cyber security efforts, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) billings, and day-to-day logistical support. This investment is not merely overhead but a direct enabler of ONR's core mission to discover, develop, and transition innovative science and technology.
