Product DevelopmentTest and Evaluation

The mission of In-Transit Visibility (ITV) is to continuously improve and provide accurate, auditable, secure, and resilient end-to-end data for all DoW materiel moving through the Defense Transportation System (DTS). Modernizing ITV will significantly improve the ability of Combatant Commands (CCMDs) to forecast the arrival of materiel in their Area of Responsibility (AOR), leading to more accurate timelines for power projection planning. Enhanced visibility also supports dynamic optimization of routing, improved shipment security, informed stock posturing, and other advanced supply chain analytic capabilities. This effort is in Budget Activity 4, Advanced Component Development and Prototypes (ACD&P), because efforts are necessary to evaluate integrated technologies, representative modes or prototype systems in a high fidelity and realistic operating environment.

Mission & acquisition strategy

The mission of In-Transit Visibility (ITV) is to continuously improve and provide accurate, auditable, secure, and resilient end-to-end data for all DoW materiel moving through the Defense Transportation System (DTS). Modernizing ITV will significantly improve the ability of Combatant Commands (CCMDs) to forecast the arrival of materiel in their Area of Responsibility (AOR), leading to more accurate timelines for power projection planning. Enhanced visibility also supports dynamic optimization of routing, improved shipment security, informed stock posturing, and other advanced supply chain analytic capabilities.

In-Transit Visibility (ITV) Modernization program will be leveraging the Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) acquisition process.
