Support to NII
This program supports the Department's initiatives to defend the homeland and deter China. The Networks and Information Integration program supports executing congressionally mandated DoW positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) governance through the PNT Oversight Council, Military Global Positioning System (GPS) user equipment (MGUE) modernization, developing alternative PNT capabilities, managing PNT policy, and participating in interagency PNT support to U.S. national critical infrastructure through the National Space-based PNT Executive Committee. In support of the interim National Defense Strategy, resilient PNT and GPS services provide a battlespace advantage through precision targeting, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), efficient logistics, and force tracking. The joint force is modernizing PNT capabilities to use GPS M-code and incorporate alternate PNT information via a modular open systems approach. Assured PNT services are a critical requirement to successfully prosecute joint military operations and protect the homeland. The integrated planning and management project oversees national-level command and control capabilities development and interoperability through the National Leadership Command Capabilities Management Office (NMO). The NMO ensures timely situational awareness and decision tools for senior leaders, supporting the DoW CIO's oversight of critical command, control, and communications (C3) assets. Focus areas include national leadership C3 systems, national security/emergency preparedness, DoW support to civil authorities, continuity of government, and cyber mission indications and warnings.
Continue base program initiatives from the prior budget year.
