Future Long Range Assault Aircraft
The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) Project's funding provides Combatant Commanders with deterrence, power projection, and tactical capabilities at operational and strategic distances. FLRAA will retain the Army's ability to project combat power with significantly increased range, speed, mobility, and payload over current Army and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) aircraft. FLRAA is the next generation vertical lift aircraft designed to conduct air assault, urban assault/security, maritime interdiction, medical evacuation, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, tactical resupply, direct action, noncombatant evacuation operations, and combat search and rescue operations. FLRAA will support the Army, including United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the Joint Force, in a contested, threat environment. In FY 2024, FLRAA achieved a successful Milestone B decision allowing the program to enter into the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. In FY 2025, the Secretary of the Army directed the acceleration of production and fielding the Multi-mission Vertical takeoff (MV) -75 FLRAA weapon system to ensure the long-range air assault and aeromedical evacuation capabilities will be available for any potential future conflicts in the Indo-Pacific region or eastern Europe. The FY 2027 budget request initiates delivery of MV-75 prototype aircraft, continues to build and integrate remaining developmental prototype and Limited User Test (LUT) aircraft, continues production planning, and initiates MV-75 prototype testing required to verify weapon system performance in preparation of a user assessment.
Continue integration and assembly of MV-75 prototype aircraft, inclusive of two (2) planned Limited User Test (LUT) aircraft, begin initial prototype aircraft deliveries, continue development engineering activities, and initiate prototype testing.
