Global Command
The Global Command and Control System-Joint (GCCS-J) is the designated joint Command and Control (C2) system that provides a near-real-time, integrated picture of the battlespace, which is essential for situational awareness in warfighting scenarios. GCCS-J is a crucial tool for decision-makers at the strategic national, strategic theater, and operational levels. GCCS-J supports both joint and multinational operations across various networks by displaying air, maritime, ground, space, and cyber tracks. GCCS-J also includes applications for missile warning, intelligence, targeting, and imagery exploitation. GCCS-J is a key component of the Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) framework. CJADC2 is a modernized approach to military decision-making that emphasizes information sharing across all service branches to achieve agile and resilient C2. This integration allows for the connection of distributed sensors, intelligence, and data from all services to provide decision-makers with information at the speed of the mission. Key features of GCCS-J include: • Common Operational Picture: Provides a comprehensive view of U.S., coalition, and enemy forces across all domains (ground, air, maritime, cyber, and space). • Tactical Decision Aids: Offers various applications to manage the Common Operational Picture and enhance situational awareness. • Theater Missile Warning: Serves as the system of record for real-time missile event alerts and displays, including launch points, missile locations, threat fans, and projected impact points. • Intelligence Support: Delivers national and tactical intelligence data to C2 operators from sources like the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Military Intelligence Integrated Database (MIDB) as well as still and motion imagery. DISA is developing GCCS-J capabilities in accordance with the Mission Network as a Service (MNaaS) framework, which aims to deliver a unified, secure, and agile Secret environment for the Combined Joint Force. GCCS-J contributes to MNaaS by providing the Combined Joint Force with a Common Operational Picture to coordinate complex operations
Sustainment Produce ongoing releases to sustain all GCCS-J baselines and continuously meet warfighter needs, keeping the systems current in accordance with JC2 Mission operational requirements, priorities, and the DoW’s JC2 Reference Architecture. Additional sustainment activities include: • Expand the SPINE footprint to additional…
