Tech Modernization Transition Assessments (TMTA)
This project supports identification and transition of priority joint capabilities to the Military Services and Agencies, through persistent, proactive stakeholder engagement with continuous transition risk assessment, development of technology transition plans, and coordination across the Department of War. Project identification activities inform the specific focus areas for the Assistant of Secretary of War (ASW) Mission Capabilities for Mission Engineering and Prototyping & Experimentation activities. Concurrently, project transition activities accelerate the fielding of successfully demonstrated joint capabilities. MDJO’s core mission is to align Joint Force efforts to the interim National Defense Strategy priorities. Additionally, this project funds TMTR which are executed to review the health of research and development portfolios to identify promising technologies to address warfighter gaps and support investment decisions. In FY 2026, this project also supports MEIA, the DoW's new enterprise framework and approach for delivering capability at speed to the Joint Force. MEIA integrates mission engineering, rapid experimentation, operational integration, and solution refinement with industry.
FY2026 plans — current year Conduct identification of critical DoW missions requiring accelerated technical solutions to shape prototyping efforts across the ASW(MC) portfolio, Joint Service investments, industry proposals and other stakeholder interests. Participate in capability gap assessments and engage with the Joint Staff, CCMDs, and Services; harvest S&T through communities of interest, data collections, and innovation workshops; support DARPA Technology Development Working Group workshops; and participate in the (Functional Capability Boards, FCBs) for the JROC.
FY2026 plans — current year Conduct transition activities in collaboration with the Services, CCMDs, OUSW(A&S) CAP program, and others as necessary.
